INK: The Internet is Getting Dark

Tech companies are getting ready to black out on Jan. 18 to protest the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and its sibling the Protect IP Act (PIPA).

Much has been made of Wikipedia’s promise to “go dark,” or shut down the site, for the day as a way of warning what might happen if SOPA became law. The tech protesters say that SOPA would render any site that included links, even if they were user-submitted, practically unoperable and liable to government take-down. Going dark is a dramatic but not entirely unrealistic warning of what the Internet could look like in a SOPA world.

The blackout is a way to get the two bills into the mainstream by showing people outside the tech industry how their everyday lives could be affected by the bills. Wikipedia isn’t the only company shutting its digital doors according to SOPAStrike.com. It has a (as far as we can tell) full list of the blackout participants.

DEFUSE YOUR OWN BOMB.

 I don’t play nice
I don’t play fair
I don’t dress up the words
That you want to hear
I tell you the truth
I tell you what’s what
I don’t do bush beating
I’m not your pity slut

I may be mean, unempathetic, and unemotional to your circumstances. When the blame doesn’t fall far from the complainer, how can I sympathize with self-destruction?

(not written by me but speaks truth)

INK: UNTITLED NO.1

My hands are folded, my head is bowed.

I see no reason to worry now.

Things that were important, disappear in the dust.

Knowing what direction to go, that’s a must.

Though I hate writing in rhymes,

it seems to do me well in these times.

My hands are folded, my head is bowed.

I see no reason to worry now.

Capture: Meeting the famous “Babelpop”

For all those that don’t know, Ms. Babelpop created a site – not too long ago – for bloggers to come on and update articles to 1) gain more traffic 2) so that readers could indulge in K- Entertainment in one hit spot.

I was honored and very excited to meet her in person and we got to digress K-Entertainment, blogs, writing, and her new company – Snapette – over some delicious food. Mmm.

Location: Barracuda Sushi – Castro Street, Mountain View – CA
Menu
Me: Sweet Potato Fries - with honey citrus aioli ~ Mango Paradise: crab and avocado roll covered with fresh tuna and mango – creepy wine sauce, tobiko
Babelpop: Jalapeno Poppers - Spicy tuna, cream cheese, jalapeno ~ tempura’d with sweet sauce

Catch up.

Okay, so I’ve neglected my own blog but due to other ties, I’m pretty sure the WP Gods will forgive me. I wanted to take part in the “Post a Day” that WP is encouraging but rethinking the whole she-bang…I’ll start tomorrow.

Lesson 1 of Bikram Yoga: Get 8 hours of sleep , hydrate throughout the day, and eat well. Result: You will not feel nauseous.

My day is fully packed tomorrow as I will battle for good parking, getting dressed for work and Yoga (after work), and returning home to do the music blog and tweet. Oh yeah, and do homework. >.> Dream High will have to wait to the weekend. Someone invent a good cloning machine already! Til tomorrow.

Coach: Poppy.

Coach was nice enough to give me free swag when I bought a clutch the other day. Swag was a sampler of Coach’s newest scent: P o p p y.

Conclusion: “Poppy,” in a nutshell,  is a musk scent twisted with fruit smell with it. Imagine a seductive smell with some tang lingering behind and that’s what basically what it is. When to wear it: In the summer, with tank tops and short skirts.
